I take my shoes off to feel the grass,
Different footprints than the past,
Same place but different eyes,
As the mist fades away in my mind,
The notes the wind used to sing
Now sound meaningful deep within,
And the drops they fall calmly way behind,
Whispering my steps will never be confined.

Cutting through paths I’ve seen,
But now my roots lie deep within,
The old voices keep echoing in my mind,

I’ve crossed the line too many times,
Only to realize that grows wider each time,
This ecotone gets bigger every step I take,
And teaches me how to float above this lake.

The wind will forever blow away
the clouds above my maze,
Yet no eternal sunshine will forever blaze,
But the trees, still rooted deep in the soil
will forever thrive and die.
