This is by far our most experimental song so far. Although we've never been the "playing by the rules" kind, writing this track pushed our boundaries one step further. We've taken as much time as we thought necessary to explore apparently disjoint acoustic landscapes and bring them together in an organic way.
We're really excited with the result: twelve minutes of pure juicy Watermelon music. From the mellow beginning and its build-up to a watery bridge, we move on to a progression of upbeat grooves and syncopated riffs. Things start getting heavy after the chorus, which, as it turns out, is only played once. We dive from a cliffhanger note into our favorite part of the song. A steady, mechanical, percussive bass line lays the ground for a playful exhibtion of freestyle drumming. The intensity of this experimental quasi-solo grows as guitars and keyboards join us from outer space, the empty and dry beginning turning into a vast and deep soundscape. What awaits beyond the climax is not for the faint-hearted...
This song was recorded, mixed and mastered at Akrasonic Productions on April 29 & 30, and May 5 & 12, 2016 by Mariano Toledano.
lyrics
Warm room, dry shoes,
Cold eyes, blue skies,
Mountain climbers,
Blades hang a threat.
Mouth walked, eye locked,
Run to, run from,
Black lake, outbreak,
Blades fall on all.
I know that deep down below
I need the blades of survival,
I feel that this water's too shallow,
I need the winds of revival! (x2)
