Where are you, my lady Mona?, bleeding blue, kissing roses, baby, ain't no time left for crying, and it's a capital crime to watch you dying. So, don't be cruel, lady Mona, and don't be rude, my lady Mona. Now, where are you, my lady Mona?, blessing fools like lonely lovers do, and deeper inside I feed the lion, and it's a capital crime to watch you dying. Now don't be cruel... I bet I gonna miss my Mona, I said I gonna miss my woman, I bet I gonna miss my Mona, I said I gonna miss my woman. (x2) Where are you, my lady Mona?, blessing fools like kissing roses, deeper inside I feed the lion and it's a capital crime to watch you dying Where are you?... Ain't no boogie woogie rollin' around I'm gonna miss you, I'm gonna lock that door, I'm gonna give you some more I'm gonna miss you. Ain't no boogie woogie rollin' around I'm gonna miss you, I'm gonna lock that door and never give you some more I'm gonna miss you, baby!

Backstage 05:46
They tell a story about a girl who fell Trying to run faster than her life They told her time's short and expensive But she never really guessed just what that meant It's not the outcome that's massive It's how long it took to build Our future will soon be in the backstage That we're passive enough to kill Live today, they said She learnt the hard way today is tomorrow's vision of yesterday But they tell another story about a girl who learnt To make life walk at her own pace Her time was endless because she knew of its end She never understood but she know what it meant It's not the outcome that's massive It's how long it took to build Our future will soon be in the backstage That we're passive enough to kill

Time gets slow inside my window, life is just a background noise, the sternness of gravity falls apart, a little candle is flaming hard. A bleak tremor beneath the sky beats time, the world’s a big chameleon from here, the river flows but the water’s stuck, and eyes of doom are just a point of view. And I see the sun inside you, the gloom in your eyes fades away, and then, inside of you, I don’t feel there’s anything to say. So, why should I go back inside?, why should I light you as I fall by the wayside? But trapped inside you, I feel the dark in my veins, and any given day, I’m gonna sing all that darkness away. Gotta get away...

Rain 07:54
Early September when thunder came While everyone was out Rain came down and soaked the streets Unexpected in the drought As the birds fly low And the cars sail by Black clouds bring light to the sky The dog next door is barking 'Cause I'm thinking way too loud Does the rain ever stop? As it just turned around But oh, you're a fool to think That only one can exist at once They both come and go Guiding lights and holy water share the sky So accept them both You'll hear the sun Rise from the east Like it's always done Like it always will Rise from the east So please don't give up blue skies You've been in too many of those Rise from the east And can't you see? Rain's what makes us miss the sunlight the most And can't you see? The Sun's what makes us miss the rainfall the most

about

After five years since their birth and numerous hours of rehearsals, gigs and studio sessions, the power trio The Missing Watermelon release their first EP.

All the songs included here are the reflection of the musical paths they explored during the period from 2012 to 2015, and how the music they crafted evolved towards a more concrete sound: from the album-opener Parabarà –a raw and highly psychedelic instrumental track that was the foundation stone they laid–, to the finale Rain –a long semi-ballad that moves from its psychedelic and mysterious beginning to a powerful chorus, only to fall to a slow laid-back section that allows the guitar to play an emotional solo before ending the song with yet another different chorus.

Listened to in its entirety, this EP takes the listener through a journey of maturation, realization and acceptance following the story of a character that the lyrics suggest, who faces questions about the nature of time, the constant past-present-future battle, love in its internal vs. external facet, and the relativity of things in general.

Understood as a journey of progress, the album will explain how this character evolves until he reaches a certain inner-peace that comes from a deep understanding and acceptance of the fact that good and bad times just come and go, like days of sun and rain, and there is no point in regretting, as beyond this lies a feeling of peace that arises from acceptance.

All songs were composed following The Missing Watermelon's traditional method of songwriting, which is about letting the ideas that will eventually be consolidated in a song come up during long improvisational sessions.
